A brief background on me: My name is Tim Walsh, and I’m currently a 20-something living in the Newark, DE area. I am a northern NJ native, but migrated to Delaware after high-school for my higher education. I recently graduated from the University of Delaware with a B.S. in Computer & Information Sciences, and minors in cognitive science and psychology. As an undergrad, I was (and still am) eager to learn, and was more concerned with taking a class that I felt would teach me something, than I was with the effect it would undoubtedly have on my GPA. This desire to learn also led me to get involved in multiple research projects, and eventually other projects of my own.
[Some of my research accomplishments can be found here and here; I was also heavily involved in the start of the UD OLPC program]
In addition to research, I was introduced to the world of technology startups and entrepreneurship in my senior year. I have spent much of my time in the past year+ at The coIN Loft, learning about business, lean startups, etc. - but more importantly, have met others who share the same desire to create. Sometimes, for the sake of creating. My desire to create has taken the shape of a mobile development company, which I have co-founded: 12 Mile Radius.

Rather than spending my post-graduation summer back-packing through Europe, I became heavily involved in the world of freelancing- which ended up being a very eye-opening experience. I also spend the summer working with 12 Mile Radius on two mobile-based application projects.
The following fall (i.e., 2011), I returned to UD as a doctoral candidate, taking Networks, Algorithms, and Information Retrieval. Additionally, I participated in Startup Weekend Delaware- which further fueled my entrepreneurial interests. The team I worked with had the idea of “Priceline for the movies” and Chimp Flix was born. Since, I have been working hard in my classes, and moon-lightning as the CTO / Lead Programmer @ChimpFlix- which involves front-end, back-end, and all ends of development.
I am currently working with multiple startups, playing a key developmental role in each. This role varies from doing all of the development (as I do with Chimp Flix), to a role closer to a software consultant, where I am responsible for the maintenance and management of code as the prototype is being created by another programmer.
